Hello everyone!
I am sure you were wondering where I was for a while. I have very exciting news; my oldest son got married to a beautiful woman! Their amazing wedding was in the most gorgeous place in Cancun, Mexico.
This brings me to my subject; perception, and what comes out of it. My children choose the most exquisite resort for a wedding, and I was ok with the prices… until I started to talk to the other guests who came to the event. The resort we stayed at consisted of three different properties and all of them had a different price, and what we paid for 4 days could have gotten us a whole week in another part of the resort. And then of course my younger son had to pay the same amount, and he just started to work. My mind was spinning in every direction possible.
“Why did the travel agent not tell me about the other options? Maybe because I am the mother of the groom and she knew I would go no matter what?” Now I felt cheated. Now my inner conversation became even more judgmental toward myself, “I did not negotiate properly.” By this time I was fuming. I tried to calm myself by doing FEFT and it worked some, but not completely. The next thing I know it was time for the wedding. So many happy faces, smiles, and toasts. An endless pool of love and kindness.
The day after the wedding, some people left, some stayed. We had our final dinner at the resort with my family and my son’s friends who became adults in my presence. They squeezed around me, a bit tipsy, but maybe this is what allowed them to be less serious. I heard them many times repeating the same praise and emphasizing how I influenced their lives with my support and inspiration. That my name was constantly in their conversation at the pool and at the beach was an honor. They told me how important for them even today (or maybe even more) it was to have the word or support and encouragement.
I went back to my room, looked at myself in the mirror and asked, “If I were your client, what would you tell me? How about you tap away all the judgments, guilt, worries, feeling of being cheated? How about to tell yourself that you did the best you knew how to at that moment?” Maybe it was time to remind myself that I was witness and participant to the most amazing, fantastic, miraculous event in my life.
I had a choice- consider myself cheated and stupid- or wealthy, full and smart, knowing that I have enough and I am always enough always in my life.
I have to note that FEFT helped me to do this reframing much faster because I have my training and knowledge and experience with it. How many times have you experienced something similar? Are you ready to work on your own problems? Are you ready to improve your life? Your health? Your relationships with yourself and others, whether emotionally or financially or whichever way you may need it? Allow yourself to invite better changes in your life. I would be honored if you choose me to help you in your journey to reach your optimal state of mind. My promise is full devotion to your peace, health, and freedom.
